Income Inequality in India

.

Income inequality has been consistently increasing since the mid-1980s and has reached a historical high in India.

Covid-19 has worsened it, reducing the marginalised section of society's income share. Covid-19 compels India to experience the highest annual contraction in its economic activity. The contraction constitutes 7.3% for 2020–21. The prolonged devasting impact of Covid-19 killed and affected millions, and also snatched their livelihoods.
