Health vs Allocations
.
Whenever any health crisis (often perceived) erupts, whether at individual level or at collective level, the wrath is always on the health system and finally ends with the consolation that we do not have enough investment (budgetary allocation) in health. But the time has again come for taking the efforts to understand where health is produced, the design of the health system and how more money can make the health system more resilient and responsive.
At the outset, we need to understand the capacity of the allocations to produce structural and composition effects in the legacy system that can contribute to population health development. How definite we are about the assumption that more money to health systems shall give more health to Indians without understanding the capacity of the system to translate money into “health,” and to what extent?
