Evidence-based policymaking has newly gained some traction in various countries, including India, with our Prime Minister committing to it by 2022. Hence, it is essential to have a grasp of what evidence-based policymaking is.

The process of evidence-based policymaking entails informing the goals of public policy based on observed behaviour rather than pre-decided goals for the same. It is true that evidence-based policymaking deepens the prospects of better results but India lacks the essentials for it in the present times.
