The Yes Bank Rescue and Its Aftermath

Yes Bank, one of the stars of the cohort of new private banks, teetered on the brink of collapse until it was rescued by a consortium of banks led by State of Bank of India (SBI) in March 2020. The bank had a balance sheet size of around `3,80,000 crore in March 2019. It was large enough for its failure to have an impact on the broader banking system. It had to be rescued.
