MAHARASHTRA-Not through Forest Lands

The 10,000-strong morcha in Bombay on March 4 of Adivasis, landless labourers and poor farmers, under the joint leadership of CPM, CPI, Marxist Lal Nishan Party (Red Flag Party) and SSP—but CPM mainly—was significant for two reasons. First, it underscored Maharashtra Government’s failure to implement its land reform measures. Second, it reflected a measure of recognition among the Leftist parties of the importance of working among, and awakening, the rural masses and of the need to join hands in this task.
