On ‘Planting of Illegal Crops’: II
.
II
Thank you for your letter, which, in parts, only serves to endorse what I have said in my article. First of all, the article is certainly not “misleading,” and second, in no way does it intend to “hamper the genuine effort” that the seed industry has been making. I am primarily addressing the fact that there is a lack of nuanced debate on what kind of technology the farmers want and need. So, I do not see why the seed industry should take umbrage to certain unpalatable facts about what is going on at the ground level as far as illegal seeds are concerned. It is vital to debate the pros and cons of genetically modified technology, which is equated with progress, and I am not alone in saying that there is no real debate.
