“The Suicide from Vincent Thomas Bridge, California” in Postscript by poet Gopikrishnan Kottoor (EPW, 5 November 2016) is a very moving obituary of the famous English film director and producer Antony David Leighton “Tony” Scott. Scott had chosen the longest bridge in Los Angeles to end his life, the venue of many of his shootings. Though disputed, Tony was believed to be battling a terminal disease.

Kottoor’s poem vividly and imaginatively captures the spot and sequence of events surrounding the tragic incident. The imaginaries chosen are all associated with Scott’s profession. Moving along, he gives a narrative of the rush of thoughts that would have dominated his mind before the leap.
