Helping Sahariya Tribals
Sahariya tribals living in Shahabad and Kishanganj tehsils (Baran District) of Rajasthan have a long history of many-sided exploitation and deprivation. About three decades ago, some youths formed an organisation called Sankalp for the mobilisation of the Sahariyas, for resisting their exploitation, protecting their land and forest rights, as well as for progress in their education. The dedicated work of Sankalp has led to many improvements in food security, education, and emerging of new leadership among the Sahariyas, particularly the women.

Among various dedicated founder members of Sankalp, Motilal made the most valuable contribution as he devoted himself completely for the rights and welfare of the Sahariyas and other weaker sections in the area. He died suddenly on 23 September 2015, working till the last hours of his life for the welfare of the Sahariyas, a cause dearest to him.
