Breathless Kabaddi

The success of the Pro Kabaddi League has been an eye-opener for the “other side” of television executives and audiences long disdainful of this Indian sport. 

Just before the final action of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL), there arrived a piece of television and marketing genius, much like the entire event itself.

Singer Shankar Mahadevan performed Breathless, a 1998 song that made him famous overnight. It is two and a half minutes of pitch-perfect, non-stop singing without, it was believed, Shankar pausing to take a breath. When the song ends, the singer exhales.
