Misleading Heading
Our article, “Common but Differentiated Responsibilities among Non-Annex I Countries” (EPW, 10 November 2012) was published under a changed heading “A New Framework for UNFCCC” which is misleading. The suggested framework is consistent with the existing United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. We explained at great length that new frameworks are hard to negotiate and just by splitting the list of non- Annex 1 countries we can achieve better results and avoid conflicts at Conference of Parties meetings.

The suggested framework is consistent with the existing United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. We explained at great length that new frameworks are hard to negotiate and just by splitting the list of non- Annex 1 countries we can achieve better results and avoid conflicts at Conference of Parties meetings. We criticise the current backstage efforts to bring only large emitters on board, saying that we need to see several criteria which follows an approach that is fair, effective and scientific. The published heading was not provided in the original paper submitted by us.
