It is with immense grief that the Committee for the Release of Political Prisoners (CRPP) shares the news of the demise of Gurusharan Singh, honorary president of the committee, and a spirited fighter for the oppressed and exploited.
An artist par excellence he took the theatre to the common people of Punjab thus connecting with the everyday life of the toiling masses. It made the dramatist in Gurusharanji aware of the acute problems faced by the common masses of Punjab – the landless agricultural labourers, factory workers, poor peasants, construction labourers, peasants, dalits, and ordinary Muslims, Sikhs, and Hindus.
