Death of RTI Activist

The National Campaign for People’s Right to Information (NCPRI) and United Forum for RTI Campaign (UFRTI) are deeply shocked and grieved at the brutal murder on 6 April of Right to Information (RTI) activist Sola Ranga Rao of Krishna district in Andhra Pradesh.

Ranga Rao had filed various RTI applications seeking information from the mandal parishad development office (MPDO) on the funds sanctioned and utilised for the village’s drainage system and alleged corruption in the drainage works. He being a proactive user of the RTI Act could be a reason for the killing.
