Gandhi's Harijan
The five articles by EW/EPW veterans (EPW, 10 and 17 January 2009) paying tributes to Sachin Chaudhuri, its founding father, helped me to refresh my memory about the unique economic journal. Incidentally, I am an avid reader of the journal since I joined the library profession in 1955 without a break.

There is a minor error in Anand Chandavarkar’s article. He says that Gandhi’s Harijan, among several others, did not survive their founders (10 January 2009, p 27). It is thus implied that Harijan ceased publication after the tragic end of Gandhiji on 30 January 1948. I have a reference to an article “Bapu”, by Jawaharlal Nehru paying tributes to the Mahatma (Harijan, 15 February 1948).
