Celebrating Corporate Industrialisation

‘In the Aftermath of Nandigram’(May 26) is an excellent critique of corporate industrialisation, its fall-out and a true exposition of Prabhat Patnaik’s erudite scholarship. But it miserably fails in its purpose. Patnaik’s efforts to identify the central government as the sole custodian of the policy of corporate industrialisation and the West Bengal government as the scapegoat of such policy compulsion on the state governments do not stand at all in the face of the painstaking efforts of the West Bengal government to glorify the same strategy in its campaign as the best option towards overall economic progress of the state.
