Assam: The `Infiltrator` Issue

The issue of illegal migration in Assam now appears more a pre-election bogey, instead of a problem that could have economic and socio-political consequences for the entire north-east. A truly far-sighted solution would require policies that develop infrastructure in the region, boost cooperation between countries in the region and implement a coordinated set of measures on population growth, migration and flood control.
