Clash between Two Nationalisms

Japan is currently seeking a permanent seat on the UN Security Council with the support of the western countries. But its east Asian neighbours, especially China, with its fervent nationalism seem not happy with this move. Japan's response to China is a case of tit for tat under the pressure of its own resurging nationalism. This augurs ill for regional stability in east Asia.
