Coal : In a Political Bind

In a Political Bind Shortage of coal, which has been building up for some time, has now started biting, and panic buttons have begun to be pressed. The coal ministry has cut off or restricted supply for small captive power plants, as well as several independent power producers. The ubiquitous committee has been set up to monitor long-term coal linkages for projects and weed out non-deserving users. An expert committee will also weigh in with suggestions on how to close the demand-supply gap and develop the sector to harness India
