Life Remembered or Remembrances Lived?

Reading Gabriel Garcia Marquez' autobiography in the original Spanish is reminiscent of the realism that is seen in the author's other equally outstanding works; it provides yet another instance of his magical ability to turn everyday ordinary happenings into exquisite aesthetic pictures. What adds charm, for a reader in the third world, is the writer's ability to transcend the given local domain and direct the reader's attention towards her own context.
