The industrialisation of grape cultivation precipitated by the export initiative of farmers in the Narayangao area in Junnar taluka in Maharashtra is examined as an example of the effects of liberalisation in the agricultural sector. This study gives an insight into how the rural labour market can take advantage of the availability of organised high-wage work, resulting in poverty alleviation.
