Recreating History in Literature

Oriya writer Radhanath Roy created 'make-believe' history by interweaving actual incidents into fiction. This article studies the symbolic meaning of five of his important 'kavyas' that broke with Oriya literary tradition of that time and sought to define Oriya identity.
