THE all-India general strike of December 11 may be the harbinger of a national working class offensive against the economic policies of the government if the trade unions and the Left political parties follow it up with more concrete actions. However, it is too early to predict, on the basis of the support given to it by several opposition parties which were once constituents of the Third Front, that it would lead to the revival of that now defunct front.
