Business Restructuring THE flagship company of the Escorts group, Escorts, performed well during 1996-97, notching a 15.5 per cent increase in net sales and a 14.7 per cent rise in value of production over the previous year. Though operating expenses rose more than proportionately, the company managed to improve its operating profit by 8.6 per cent. Despite a 12.3 per cent rise in interest charges, the company managed to post a 26.7 per cent increase in its net profit, aided mainly by a 2.3 per cent fall in depreciation provision and a mere 3.9 per cent rise in tax provision.
