AHMEDABAD ELECTRICITY Hike in Tariff AHMEDABAD Electricity Company has reported a 15.6 per cent rise in sales in 1996-97, fuelled mainly by a 5 per cent hike in the tariff rate during the year. With operating expenses rising sharply, however, the company posted a somewhat lower rise in its operating profit (up 5.6 per cent). With interest charges being lower by 8.6 per cent over the previous year, the company's net profit surged by 21.4 per cent.
