Is There an Ethical Basis for Capital Punishment? Nalini Rajan A FEW months ago, the Doordarshan's national network featured a talk show on capital punishment. What was remarkable about the discussion was that, except for one well known male academic, the other members of the panel as well as the majority of the audience in the studio were in favour of capital punishment. I would like to examine here the reasons why opposition to this practice is riddled with difficulty.
