UMACHAKRAVARTI in her article (EPW, January 31) writes that "Medieval India was ruled out because its heroic imperial figures would be Muslim''. But all heroic royal figures (not imperial, 1 admit) of medieval India were not Muslims. Also there was a television serial on Akbar the Great and another on Tipu Sultan (not strictly medieval India, I admit). One should not make loose statements nor suppress facts. Reminds one of fascists.
