In the absence of concrete political agendas, these influences get further reinforced and elections have become a means of establishing a phoney social dominance by caste groups. This is also why no one pattern of alignment of social forces is clearly discernible as consistent. The distinct political culture of the state where the majority of voters are illiterate but politically alert, has contributed to the violent and corrupt nature of elections in Bihar.
