EPW Research Foundation ACC Rising Costs THE country's largest cement company, Associated Cement Companies (ACC), performed poorly during 1996-97. Difficult market conditions and sharp increases in transportation costs and prices of major inputs such as coal and power took their toll of the company's bottomline. The company' s woes were compounded when the cement industry itself witnessed a downturn during the second half of the year under review. Cement prices crashed in most parts of the country.
