The family stilt enjoys political support. The local MLA is on the side of the family according to the family. There are of course complaints that the police have not been fully supportive of the family. And yet the partisan role of the police in support of the family is quite evident from sources of the village. Eight members of the family are jailed no doubt. But there are another 10 who are said to have escaped with their families. Police have not been able to trace them. One gets the impression that the police do not want to arrest them and put them behind bars.
