INDIAN SEAMLESS METAL TUBES-Affected by Recession

EPW Research Foundation THE flagship company of the Indian Seamless Group, Indian Seamless Metal Tubes (1SMT) has shown mixed results for 1993-94, with net sales going up by 2 per cent, operating profit falling by 6 per cent and net profit rising by 17 per cent. The boost to net profit was attributed to the 33 percent increase in other income, 22 percent decrease in depreciation and a rise in non- operating surplus by Rs 3.26 crore. ISMT declared a dividend of 32 per cent for year against 30 per cent for the previous year. Exports were higher by 25 per cent white imports fell by 59 per cent.
