EPW Research Foundation TATA IRON AND STEEL Back on Track TISCO. the Tata flagship company, has shown good performance with net sales increasing by 13 per com for the year 1993- 94. which is attributable to the recovering steel industry. The company's operating profit up by 15 per cent for the year under review. Net profit increased by 51 percent and amounted to Rs 180 crore against a mere Rs 4 crore in the first six months. The company claims that "the performance was alfeeted by the certain transitional factors" like addition to fixed assets and expects sales and margins to show further improvement in subsequent years, The company has announced a dividend of 30 per cent for the year as against 25 per cent in the previous year.
