EPW Research Foundation LARSEN AND TOUBRO Accent on Heavy Engineering LARSEN AND TOUBRO (L & T), one of the leading construction companies with diversified activities ranging from engineering to shipping, has shown good performance with net sales going up by 47 per cent in 1993-94. Operating profits went up by 21 per cent, while net profits jumped by 64 percent Lower taxation by 43 percent was offset by increases in depreciation (16 per cent) and interest (20 per cent). The company has declared a dividend of 40 per cent for the year as against 35 per cent for 1992-93. The company has done well on the export front as well, with exports going up by 34 per cent while imports increased by 8 per cent.
