year. As the position was adverse, the company switched over to manufacture of high carbon ferro chrome under a conversion agreement with the Tata Iron and Steel Company in June 1991. This earned for the company an income by way of job receipts of Rs 554 lakh, shown under other income in the table. Sales income, on the other hand, dropped sharply from Rs 2,894 lakh to Rs 1,063 lakh. And though expenses by way of direct costs were restricted, in the net position there was a whopping loss of Rs 660 lakh after depreciation against a profit of Rs 159 lakh in the previous year. With the previous year's surplus of Rs 58 lakh brought in, the net debit balance of Rs 602 lakh was carried over to balance-sheet.
