A FEW years ago, l read an article in the Chicago Tribune about the devastating cyclone that had hit Bangladesh. The article began by describing the horrors of the cyclone, then suddenly shifted to describing the horrors of Hindu-Muslim violence during the 1947 Partition of India and closed with a comment about how nasty weather can be in Bengal. A lone example of quirky writing, I thought at the time.
