The Future What It Holds for Banks

It has undergone such dramatic changes the world over, today's banking is vastly different from what it was a few years ago. The approaches, principles and philosophies that were holding good in the past are not valid today. In fact, in the Indian context, the banking industry has been passing through a virtual metamorphic phase. It is in this background that the appointment of a high-powered committee headed by M Narasimham for making a comprehensive review to consider all relevant aspects of structure, organisation, function and procedures of the financial system is to be viewed as a step in the right direction towards enhancing the viability and strength of banks.
