expenditure in foreign currency was Rs 60.99 crore which showed an increase of 106 per cent over Rs 29.65 crore in the previous year.
The company is in the process of implementing its 'Capital India Project' which involves production of a large volume of small sized bearings, production of self-aligning ball bearings and improvement in the quality of ball and roller bearings manufactured by the company. This project is expected to be operational by 1993. The company has a large expan- sion plan on hand. The Chinchwad and Bommasandra units have been licensed to manufacture 22.35 million and 26.40 million ball and roller bearings, respectively, per annum. According to the company its success depends not merely on the number of bearings but more importantly on the quality of its products, continuous upgradation of technology, human resource development and customer orientation.
