AM Rajiv Gandhi's assassination should have provided the occasion for a general political spring-cleaning. Unfortunately, it has not, at least not till now, and there are few signs that, unless pushed by circumstances, overall political behaviour in the country will undergo any qualitative transformation in the near future. The nation will, therefore, continue to stagger from one crisis to the next.
