An Overview of the Petrochemical Industry in India

During the late sixties, the first naphtha crackers came into operation at Bombay. These crackers were small in relation to present standards. The first integrated petrochemical complex was establish ed in the seventies under the aegis of IPCL at Vadodara The aromatic plant went on stream in 1973 and the olefins/downstream units in 1978.
