COTTON Easy Option IT is natural enough for the farming community to welcome the further hefty hike of Rs 50/Rs 60 per quintal in the minimum support prices for kapas for the 1990-91 season. That this hike should have been accorded an unqualified welcome even by the CCI which is required to lift all the kapas offered to it at support prices has the semblance of a subtle PR exercise. For the enhanced support prices could well prove to be a source of considerable embarrassment to the CCI if the crop turns out to be a really bumper one which is not unlikely.
