It is necessary in the interest of justice that the state government should compensate the affected people by restoring their houses and giving them necessary financial assistance for the materials destroyed by the police. Otherwise the socially conscious groups like APCLC should take up the case of the tribals before the Supreme Court or the high court and ensure that justice is done to them. There is no reason to apprehend that the courts will ignore their constitutional obligations to uphold the rule of law because as Justice Krishna Iyer once pointed out, law is a social science and constitutionally (even of executive actions, to add) turns not on abstract principles of rigid legal canons but on concrete realities and given conditions.
