DUNLOP INDIA Modernisation Programme DUNLOP INDIA experienced mixed fortunes in 1988-89. Workers in the Sahaganj factory were oh strike from August I to November 5, 1988. On the plus side, new types were added to product ranges, sales and production of critical products improved, steady production was maintained at the Ambattur factory and seven-day work was introduced in critical products at Sahaganj factory from November 29, 1988. Following a tripartite settlement, the strike at Sahaganj was withdrawn from November 6, 1988. A scheme for continuous working of the plant on a seven- day basis was worked out with the unions and the government for better deployment of manpower and improved productivity. At Ambattur, in line with the marketing strategy, production was higher than in the previous year of car, light truck, truck, two-wheeler tyres as well as automotive tubes.
