Khasi Frustrations The persistent opposition of the Khasi Students Union to the proposal to establish a railhead at Byrnihat, situated in the Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya, reflects the Khasi people's attitudes towards 'outsiders' who are perceived as 'swamping' the state and towards other tribes in the state who are seen as monopolising political power.
