New Look at Rural Planning

After so much of effort and expenditure on rural development there is no little to show in terms of improvement in the rural economy. There is no sense of enthusiasm about development comparable to that generated in the early years of panchayati raj before it was crushed by petty political interests. The lack of public response does not indicate backwardness and apathy of the people, but that both the policies and their implementation- are not felt to be relevant to the people's most essential needs.
