Uneasy Questions Must Be Asked THE political comment on the abduction of government officials in East Godavari (EPW, January 2-9) is admirable in its "rational and neutral" narration especially in contrast to the bourgeois press that has "gone to town" on the incident. Looking at this sample linearity with which the incident is dealt with one is left wondering what the fuss was all about. Some aspects of the incident for instance, the fact that civil authority had broken down in the district with the abduction of the collector, that military action was imminent, seem to fall outside the scope of this piece which advises that it be viewed as a political act
