Academic Freedom WE share Kashyap Mankodi's fears about "the threat to academic freedom from within!' But we discern in his attack on Arthat and the Centre for Social Studies (October 15) precisely such a threat. Freedom is not necessarily threatened by institutions alone. It can be eroded by individuals also, irrespective of whether they are in positions of power or not.
