Tamil Tragedy in Sri Lanka Asoka Weerasinghe V R KRISHNA IYER'S calculated indictment against the Sri Lankan government, the Sinhalese majority and that island's Buddhists, in his article Tamil Tragedy in Sri Lanka and Contradictory Strategy by India' (EPW, July 9), has all the banal trappings that portray him as the godfather of the separatist Tamil movement in Sri Lanka and the promoter of the racist Tamil version of the Klu Klux Klan. It is obvious he has, though misplaced, strong sentiments on the Tamilian cause in Sri Lanka, But, unfortunately, the issue is much more complex and emotional.
