HINDUSTAN MOTORS Poor Financial Performance HINDUSTAN MOTORS has shown poor working results for 1987-88 in spite of higher production and sales. It has earned a gross profit of Rs 7.84 crore against Rs 15.76 crore in the previous year even though sales turnover has been higher at Rs 333 crore against Rs 289 crore. Thus, gross profit as a percentage of sales has declined from 5.45 to 2.35. After depreciation, there is a net loss of Rs 2.96 crore compared to a net profit of Rs 5.96 crore in 1986-87. Dividend has been reduced from 10 per cent to 7.5 per cent, which too will come from past reserves.
