up an impressive track record in the past few years, is widening its horizons. It has taken over a running sugar mill complex. In the first phase of modernisation and expansion programme, the company proposes to increase the capacity of its sugar mill to 4,000 MT per day from the present 1,200 MT per day. The by-product, molasses is proposed to be utilised for the production of 60,000 litres per day of industrial alcohol. The company further proposes to utilise the industfial alcohol for the manufacture of high value added products such as vinyl acetate monomer, polyvinyl acetate and polyvinyl alcohol. It is also putting up a plant to manufacture furfural, furfural alcohol and power generation from the agriculture waste, that is sugarcane bagasse, which is a residue of sugar mill complex of the company. Furfural and furfural alcohol will be exported, which will earn -foreign exchange of over Rs 6 crore per annum. The spent bagasse will be used for power generation to the extent of 10.5 MW and the company will have surplus power of 6 MW, which will be sold to the state grid. The company has plans to utilise "the surplus power for further schemes of expansion and diversification. Encouraged by the growing demand and rnarket potential, the company also proposes to set up a new plant for the manufacture of toilet soaps with a capacity of 60,000 MT per annum adjacent to the complex of Oswal Agro furane where all industrial infra- structural facilities including surplus power and steam are available. This plant will also have facilities for the manufacture of industrial hard oils, fatty acids, stearic acids and glycerine. Meanwhile, the company has increased installed capacities of its toilet soap, industrial hard oil, solvent extraction and glycerine plants at Ludhiana. It has also modernised one of the existing solvent plants at Ludhiana.
