Illogic on Xenophobia

EVEN though the comment on Assam OLogic of Xenophobia', July 23) carried a by-line of 'A Correspondent', since it has been included among the editorial comments, one has to assume that it 'reflects editorial opinion. This is unfortunate because, leaving aside the fact that it is a string of abuses ('xenophobia', linguistic chauvinism', 'politics of carnage', 'monster of linguistic chauvinism' and so on) the comment is also plainly wrong on the few 'facts' it adduces in support of its arguments.
