Andrei Gromyko's memoirs, one fears, is unlikely to stay long on the best-seller list, if it gets there at all However, the book has quite a story to tell about the Tkiwan Straits crisis of 1958 which may also have a bearing on the beginnings of the Sino-Soviet feud.
