Dubious Science

THIS has reference to the editorial note 'Nutrition: Dubious Science' (EPW, May 2). We are surprised that a well known and prestigious journal like yours should publish a highly biased comment on a report, criticising the interpretation of NNMB data by my colleagues. It is all the more unfortunate that the author of this write-up should go the extent of casting aspersion on the entire work of the institute of which NNMB is a part. Prom what has been written in this article it would appear that the author is quite ignorant of the organisation and functioning of NNMB and also perhaps of the achievement of the institute in the field of nutrition which has received national and international recognition. In view of the unjustified insinuation against the NNMB and NIN, we are constrained to offer a rejoinder to this article to dispel the misinformation and counter some of the unfounded and highly prejudicial comments. Pet us first look at the facts about NNMB.
